In the Spotlight
Congratulations to seventh grader Taylor Mason and sixth grader Ansley Diamond on making The Olympic Development Program (ODP) soccer team! ODP identifies national team players early and provides development opportunities for these potential national team players. Being a member of ODP provides improved opportunities for playing college soccer and getting college scholarships. This is because many college coaches work on ODP staff at the state, regional, and national levels and also most college coaches scout players at ODP events. College coaches consider a player’s participation in ODP as an indicator of talent and soccer ambition.

Sam Reilly (student) and Susan Reilly (mom) in AJC
Mt. Pisgah sophomore Sam Reilly calls his cross-country coach different names, one of which happens to be “Mom.” Susan Reilly is in her fifth season at Mt. Pisgah and also coached older son Joe. If I’m in a good mood,” Sam said, “I’ll call her ‘Coach.’ If I’m in a bad mood, I’ll say ‘Mom.’ It can go either way.” That choice lightens the mood for Sam’s teammates.
“In practice,” Susan said, “the kids will ask questions while they are running by me. Sam might yell ‘Hey Coach.’ I’ll turn around and his friends running with him will then say, ‘Hey Mom.’ It’s just sort of a funny thing.” Sam said the closeness cuts both ways: she is always around, at school and home. Superb Showing
Pisgah's Leanna Holden finished the rabbit show season at the youth American Netherland Dwarf Rabbit Club National Show with her Siamese Sable Senior Doe placing second in her Class. Bagpipe won Best in Show and Best Opposite at the Dalton, show in March, went on to compete with the adult winners in the Best of the Best, and has won numerous impressive awards over the season.

Best in Show
At the DeKalb Rabbit breeders Show in Conyers, Pisgah's own Leanna Holden placed Best in Show, Best of Breed, and Best Opposite of Breed with two of her Netherland Dwarf rabbits, “Ninja” and “Bagpipe.” Leanna is pictured with the judge, , who judged Ninja as the best in Show of all the rabbits breeds. Leanna's mom tells us that Ninja is NOT in a show pose, but likes to show off and be a curious youngster. Leanna's Junior Siamese Sable Buck, “Ninja,” won Best of Breed and then won Best in Show for the youth competition. Her Senior Siamese Sable Doe, “Bagpipe,” won Best Opposite of Breed twice in the youth shows. Bagpipe is Ninja’s mother, so we understand Leanna has a great breeding line of rabbits just waiting for another round of show season next fall.
