The varsity boy’s basketball team finished 12-12 and in 4th place in Region 7-A in the 2009-2010 season. Under first year coach Douglas Byrd the Patriots knocked off two teams ranked in the top ten in Greenforest Academy and Athens Christian, and beat Fellowship Christian three times.
The team was led by All-Region selection Kyle Sloter, who averaged 16 points, five rebounds and four assists per game. Junior Blake Piedrahita was also named Honorable Mention All-Region.
Also posting solid seasons for the Pisgah was Danny Schneider (Johns Creek Neighbor Athlete of the Week in December), Joseph Marco (Most Improved Player), Grant Williamson (Coaches Award), Hank Shaw (school record eight three-pointers vs. Excel) and Brian Ginty (school record eight three-pointers vs. Galloway).
This season was the Patriots best finish since entering GHSA competition four years ago.
