Lady Patriots fall to Whitefield and King's Ridge

The Mount Pisgah varsity volleyball team lost 2-0 to Whitefield (16-25, 17-25) and No. 10 King's Ridge (7-25, 11-25) on Thursday. Pisgah now stands 6-9-1 on the season.

"Despite the final numbers, we served pretty well and did some really nice things while playing some different line ups. I was proud of those who stepped up in different roles and made things happen," said head coach Michael Webster. "We have an incredibly difficult Area.  Four of the top 10 teams in A/AA are in our region (1. Blessed Trinity, 4. Wesleyan, 5. Holy Innocents & 10. Kings Ridge).  That makes the task of growing this program both more difficult and worthwhile.  To quote "Miracle...."

Lou Nanne: Beat the best team in the world? Gold medalists in '64, '68, '72, '76? Pretty lofty goal, Herb.
Herb Brooks: Well, Lou, that's why I want to pursue it."

Pisgah Volleyball has Win Streak Snapped

The Mount Pisgah volleyball team took a five match win streak into action on Thursday, but dropped matches to both North Cobb Christian and Cherokee High School.

"The level of competition was raised and we sputtered in our intensity and focus," said head coach Michael Webster. "Too many service errors and inconsistent intensity were too much to overcome.  When we put things together, we can compete with many of these teams.  We need to be more consistent in many areas to reach our goals."

The Patriots lost to North Cobb 2-0 (25-21, 25-14) and Cherokee (25-7, 25-23). The team is abck in action next week as they travel to Pinecrest on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Kings Ridge on Thursday, Sept. 8.

Varsity Volleyball Picks Up First Win of the Season

The Mount Pisgah volleyball team picked up its first win of the season on Tuesday with a 2-0 win over Yeshiva. The Lady Patriots won both games 25-16.

"We served more consistently, as well as increased our communication and energy," head coach Michael Webster said about the win.

Earlier in the afternoon Pisgah fell to Galloway 2-0 (10-25, 24-26).

"Obviously, we came out with less intensity and focus than was needed.  However, after a huge early run in the first game we played pretty even with them.  They are easily the best team we have played so far.  Really proud of the girls for their increased intensity, communication and competitiveness.  We still have a ways to go, but we are pleased with our development so far," Webster said.

The coach pointed to service runs from Bayley Bostic, Brittany Halloran and Emily Raymer as highlights of the day. He added "Emily Raymer's blocking was a major factory in slowing down and stopping both Yeshiva and Galloway."
