Pisgah Routs St. Francis for NAML Title
The Pisgah Middle School baseball team defeated St. Francis 14-4 on Thursday to win the NAML championship. The Patriots were donimate in the playoffs winning both games in five innings by run-rule. The team finished the season 11-2.
Alden Pascucci pitched a complete game for Pisgah allowing only one earned run and striking out eight. At the plate, Garrett Brasher finished 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Jacob Greene was 3-for-4 including a double. Greene also drove in two runs and score two runs. Pascucci helped himself at the plate driving in three runners. Ryan Bostic also had two RBIs. All told, eight PAtriots drove in runs in the game.
The Knights scored one run in the first inning, but Pisgah immediately answerd with two runs in the bottom half of the inning. Jacob Cendoya led off the inning with a single and moved to third on a Greene double. Cendoya scored on a groundout by Spencer Shields. Greene would score on a RBI single by Zach Messinger.
The Patriots added two more in the bottom of the second, when Greene drove in Brasher and Cendoya with a single to righ field.
St. Francis stormed back in the top of the third, scoring three runs to tie the score at 4-4. Pisgah answered immediately in the bottom of the third when Pascucci's double plated Ryan Briggs and Brasher. Pascucci would later score on a throwing error by the St. Francis catcher.
From their it was all Patriots as they added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth and two more in the fifth to put the run-rule in effect.
Pisgah defeated Mt. Paran 12-1 in Tuesday's semifinal to advance to the championship game.
