New Football Coordinators

The Pisgah football program will have two new coordinators when they hit the field in the fall. Caleb Perry was recently named the Offensive Coordinator and Mike Forester the Defensive Coordinator.

“I am very excited to have these two men join the football coaching staff. I have been impressed by the passion and knowledge that they bring to the program,” said head coach Doug Dixon. “Both men are coming from state and nationally known programs and their knowledge of the game is only surpassed by the character of these fine Christian men.”

Perry was a physical education teacher, Christian studies teacher, football coach and strength and conditioning coach at Shiloh Christian School in Springdale, Arkansas. During his time at Shiloh the Saints were the 2009 National Private School Athletic Association Football National Champions; the 2006, 2008 and 2009 Arkansas Athletic Association football State Champions; and the 2007 Arkansas state runners-up.

Perry played collegiately at the University of Arkansas from 1999-2003, where he was named to the Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll.

Forester coached for 19 years at Briarwood Christian School in Birmingham, Alabama. A 5A school in the Alabama High School Athletic Association, Forester helped lead Briarwood to three state championships (1998, 1999 and 2003), as well as two state runners-up finishes (2007 and 2010). Forester has taught Bible, philosophy, psychology and geography at Briarwood.

The Dallas, Texas native played football at the University of Mississippi, where he was a three-year letter winner.

Physicals

Physicals will be given on Thursday, May 24th for all those planning to participate with Pisgah Athletics during the 2012-2013 school year.

Why should your child get a physical in May? Glad you asked!

  • The cost is only $20! Try beating that at your pediatricians’ office or a walk in clinic.
  • This physical will be good for the entire school year. No rushing out to get a physical later in the year at a time that will inevitably be the most inconvenient time possible.
  • The GHSA now requires that all athletes must have a valid physical before they can participate in any voluntary summer workout. No summer workouts for your child means that another athlete is getting bigger, stronger and faster.

Physicals will be given in the Drummond Center beginning at 2 p.m. for rising 7th-9th graders. (Middle School will be done early that day due to finals.) Rising 10th-12th grade physicals will start at 3 p.m. Rising 6th grade physicals will begin at 3:30.

Remember, physicals are only valid for 12 months, so if you are going to have to get a physical during the 2012-2013 school year anyway, why not do it now!

The physical form is available here. The waiver form must also be filled out - that form can be found here. Both forms are also available in the Quick Links section of the main Athletic page.

For more information please contact John Messinger (JMessinger@mountpisgahschool.org).
