Varsity Girls Basketball Advances in Playoffs

The varsity girls basketball team defeated Pinecrest 62-51 on Monday to advance in the Region 5-A playoffs. The Lady Patriots will face Pace in their next game.

Bria Johnson led the team with 21 points. Emily Raymer scored 16 points, grabbed 17 renbounds and added six blocks. Madison Claytor also scored 12 points.

Raymer Leads Lady Patriots

While injuries have slowed down the Mount Pisgah girls’ basketball team this season, little has been able to slow down post player Emily Raymer. The junior is averaging a double-double with 16 points and 13 rebounds per game. She is also posting 4.8 blocks per game.

“Emily has improved and matured so much during this past summer and this year. Her leadership skills have been wonderful. I don't think a coach could ask for a more dedicated player than her,” said head coach Jennifer Osborne.

Recently Raymer has finished with some impressive performances against Pinecrest (23 points, 13 rebounds and four blocks), Fellowship (20 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks), Dunwoody (20 points, 22 rebounds and seven blocks) and Galloway (21 points, 21 rebounds and four blocks).

The Lady Patriots (6-16, 2-5 Region5B-A) close their regular season tonight against Providence.

Lady Patriots Roll Past Pinecrest

Emily Raymer scored 23 points to lead Mount Pisgah past Pinecrest on Tuesday night in the Drummond Center. Raymer also added 13 rebounds and four blocks.

Madison Claytor also had a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Camille Tracy finished with six points, seven assists and two blocks. Avery White added 12 rebounds.

Lady Patriots Fall to Fellowship

The Pisgah girls basketball team lost 53-43 to Fellowship on Saturday night. Emily Raymer led the Lady Patriots with 20 points, 17 rebounds and four blocks. Camille Tracy added 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Pisgah hosts Providence Christian on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the Drummond Center.

Lady Patriots Knock of Dunwoody

The Pisgah girls basketball team defeated Dunwoody 31-26 on Saturday night, despite finishing the game with only four players on the court. Starting with only six players dressed for the game, the Patriots lost Madison Wickline when she fouled out with four minutes left to play. Fifteen seconds later, Taylor Latham left the game with an injury, leaving four Pisgah players on the floor.

Wickline led the Patriots with 12 points. Emily Raymer scored 10 points and added 12 rebounds. Latham finished with 6 rebounds.

Also during the game Raymer, only a junior, passed the 750 point mark for her career.

This was the second consecutive win for the Lady Patriots (5-10). The squad travels to Wesleyan on Tuesday.

Lady Patriots Pick Up First Sub-Region Win

The Pisgah girl's basketball team picked up their first sub-region win of the season on Friday night defeating Pinecrest 44-40. Emily Raymer dominated scoring 20 points, grabbing 20 rebounds and adding 7 blocks. Camille Tracy added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.

The Patriots (4-10, 1-1) travel to Dunwoody on Saturday for a non-region matchup.

Pisgah Drops Close Contest to Westminster

The Pisgah girls basketball team lost a hard faught contest to Westminster 40-36 on Saturday night. Emily Raymer led the Lady Patriots with 15 points, 5 rebounds and 6 blocks. Camille Tracy added 9 points and 4 rebounds, while Madison Claytor finished with 6 points and 3 rebounds.

Raymer Leads Lady Patriots Past Galloway

Emily Raymer scored 21 points, grabbed 21 reounds and added four blocks as the Mount Pisgah girls basketball team defeated Galloway 35-27 on Tuesday night. Madison Claytor added another ten points for the Lady Patriots.

Pisgah Drops Final Game of Carolina Tournament

The Pisgah girls basketball team lost to Cardinal Newman 52-40 on Thursday in their final game of the Carolina Day School Basketball Holiday Classic. The Lady Patriots were again led by Emily Raymer who finished with 16 points, 12 rebounds and nine blocks. Madison Claytor also scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Raymer Dominate in Loss

Pisgah junior Emily Raymer was dominate in the teams 49-41 loss today to Western Carolina Athletic Association (a team of home schooled students) in their second game at the Carolina Day School Basketball Holiday Classic. Raymer scored 27 points, grabbed 17 rebounds and added six blocks. The Lady Patriots will close out their play in the tournament tomorrow.

Lady Patriots Open Holiday Tournament With Loss

The Pisgah girl's basketball team lost to Veritas Christian Academy 50-31 on Tuesday in their first game of the Carolina Day School Basketball Holiday Classic. Emily Raymer led the team with 11 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks. Jennifer Sapp added nine points and six rebounds.

The Patriots will play either Ashville or North Raleigh Christian Acedmy tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in the Justice gym on the campus of UNC-Ashville.

Lady Patriots Defeat Eagles Landing

The Mount Pisgah varsity basketball team even their record at 3-3 with a 46-31 win over Eagles Landing on Friday night. Emily Raymer led the way with 25 points and 17 rebounds.

The Lady Patriots travel to Riverwood on Saturday for their next contest.

Lady Patriots Defeat Atlanta International

The Mount Pisgah girls varsity basketball team defeated Atlanta International 44-34 on Tuesday. Emily Raymer posted her second consecutive double-double, with 18 points and 22 rebounds. Madison Claytor added 17 points.

Pisgah travels to Pace on Friday and then hosts Lambert on Saturday in the Drummond Center.

Lady Patriots Cruise Past NCC

Behind 22 points and 15 rebounds from Emily Raymer the Mount Pisgah girls basketball team rolled past North Cobb Christian 66-37 on Saturday. The Lady Patriots improved to 1-1 on the season.

Bria Johnson added 11 points and six rebounds, while Jenn Sapp scored 10 points.

Next up for Pisgah is Atlanta International on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Drummond Center.

Pisgah Drops Season Opener to Fellowship

The Pisgah girls varstiy basketball team lost to Fwllowship 43-42 in their season opener on Tuesday. The Lady Patriots trailed by as many as 15 points before storming back to nearly win the game. Emily Raymer led Pisgah with 16 points and nine rebounds.

The team will travel to north Cobb Christian on Saturday for their next game. They return home on Tuesday, December 6 to host Atlanta Inernational School.

Two Lady Patriots Named All-Region
 
The Mount Pisgah Christian School girl’s basketball team had two players named Honorable Mention All-Region 5-A. Senior Sandy Almon and sophomore Emily Raymer were named to the squad.
 
Almon led the team with an average of 11 points, 1.6 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She was second on the squad with 9.1 rebounds per game.
 
Raymer, led the team in rebounds (9.7 per game) and blocks (4.5 per game). She was second on the team in scoring with 9.3 points per contest.
 
The Lady Patriots finished 7-17 under first year head coach Jennifer Osborne.

First year head coach Jennifer Osborne guided the Lady Patriots to a 7-17 record in the 2010-11 season. The Lady Patriots were led by senior Sandy Almon and sophomore Emily Raymer, who were both named Honorable Mention All-Region.
 
“We had some great wins and every single girl improved,” Osborne said of the season. “I don't think I could have been more happy with these girls. They are all very coachable and it is great to have that kind of player on your team. The fact that we have 10 of them is even better.”
 

The team posted impressive victories over Therrell and AAA Druid Hills. They also had a thrilling win over Fellowship on a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Almon.
