Varsity Baseball

The Pisgah varsity baseball team completed another strong season in 2012 under Head Coach John O'Connor. The Patriots finished 16-9 overall and 8-8 in Region 5-A play. The 16 wins was the most ever for the varsity baseball program. Pisgah finished the season strong, going 12-4 in April, including wins over Wesleyan and Scott County - the largest public school in Kentucky.

Junior catcher Adrian Celata was named first team All-Region.

Pisgah Rallies Late to Defeat Kings Ridge

Mount Pisgah's varsity baseball team scored six runs in the 7th inning on Tuesday to defeat Kings Ridge 10-6. It was the sixth win in a row for the Patriots who improved to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in Region 5-A play.

Trailing 6-4 heading into their last at bat. With one out Brendan Blake, Adrian Celata and Garrett Condon all drew walks to load the bases. Nicky Piccapietra then delivered a single, which scored Blake and Celata to tie the score. Two Kings Ridge errors led to the final four Patriot runs.

Piccapietra got the win in relief, throwing 2 1/3 innings while not allowing a run.

Pisgah jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Blake led off the inning with a single, stole second and scored in a Celata double.

Blake finished the game 2-for-2 with two walks and three runs scored.

Patriots No-Hit Galloway

Sophomores Brooks Brasher and Patrick Messinger combined to no-hit Galloway in an 11-0 win for Pisgah on Tuesday. Brasher pitched four innings, allowing only one walk and striking out eight. Messinger pitched one inning, striking out one batter, in a game that was shortened because of the run rule.

Offensively, Brendan Blake, Kyle Jackson and Adrain Celata each had two hits. Blake added three runs and two RBIs. Jackson double and drove in three runs, while Celata also doubled and drove in two runs.

The Patriots (1-1) open their region schedule on Thursday at home against Pinecrest. Gametime is 5 p.m. at the Patriot Athletic Campus, located at 9825 Brumbelow Road in Johns Creek.

The varsity baseball team finished the 2011 season 14-10 overall and 8-8 in Region 5-A play. The 14 wins for the Patriots were the most for the program since beginning GHSA play. Five players were named All-Region for Pisgah. Danny Schneider (Sr., OF) was a first team selection, with Hank Shaw (Sr. ,1B) and Kyle Jackson (So., OF) being named to the second team. Adrian Celata (So., C) and Joseph Marco (Jr., P) were named Honorable Mention.
