Mount Pisgah Welcomes Kent Harrison

The Mount Pisgah Christian School athletic program is under new management with the addition of Kent Harrison as Athletic Director. He brings to Mount Pisgah a wealth of experience and passion for Christian education.

Harrison's appointment marks the culmination of a national search that began in January of 2015, during which the school received more than 300 applications. The search committee carefully reviewed materials from 16 semi-finalists who have extensive experience in independent school head coaching and athletic administration. Eight of the semi-finalists were interviewed on campus.

Harrison comes to Mount Pisgah from his alma mater Darlington School in Rome, Ga., where he has worked since 2007. He first served as assistant director of admission and also as associate athletic director and an upper school math teacher. He was the head varsity baseball coach and served as the varsity softball coach, leading both of
his teams to Final Four finishes in the 2012-2013 season. Additionally, he has previously served as Rockmart Middle School's head boys and girls golf coach and assistant girls basketball coach. He and his wife, Rachel, a first-grade teacher at Darlington, have a son, Stafford.

Upon accepting the athletic director position, Harrison said, "I am truly humbled and honored that I was selected for this position. I am excited to join such a talented staff of professionals.

"Rachel, Stafford and I are very excited to join and meet other members of the Mount Pisgah community," he continued. "The school's mission, vision and beliefs create exactly the type of environment where we want to work, play and raise a family. During our first visit it was easy to tell that God has big plans for this place. Everyone that we encountered had a heart for kids. We love athletics, and, most importantly, we love kids. We will be Mount Pisgah's biggest fans."

Head of School John Marshall is thrilled that someone with Kent Harrison's experience and caliber is joining the Mount Pisgah team. "Kent Harrison brings highly relevant experience as an independent school graduate, varsity coach, math teacher, assistant director of admission and an athletic administrator from a top-tier independent school athletic program to Mount Pisgah," said Marshall. "He is recognized as a rising star in athletic administration across Georgia. We are so blessed that Kent, Rachel and Stafford will soon become part of the Mount Pisgah community. "

Harrison earned a Master of Education in Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Middle Grades Education from the University of West Georgia, where he played baseball. In 2014, he became a National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association certified Athletic Administrator. Harrison has received numerous coaching awards, including 2011 Rome News-Tribune Baseball Coach of the Year, 2011 Darlington Male Sport Coach of the Year, 2012 Rome News-Tribune Softball Coach of the Year and 2013 Darlington Female Sport Coach of the Year. In high school, Harrison played football, basketball and baseball.
